Will it always be free?

Core navigation and trails: yes, forever. AI Chronicler and advanced features will be optional paid add-ons, but the fundamental experience — GPS, offline maps, Chronicles, and POI data — will remain free. We're committed to accessibility over monetization.
What about my data?

Anonymized trail data only. We never sell personal data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. We use aggregated, anonymized walking patterns to improve route accuracy and trail conditions — not to profile you.
Do I need internet connection?

No. Download your trail maps before you go, and KronoTrek works completely offline. GPS, navigation, Chronicles, and haiku are all available without connectivity. Meshtastic conditions sync when you reconnect.
Which routes are available?

Live now: Nakasendo (69 post towns, 600 km). Coming Q2 2026: O-Henro (88 temples). Coming Q4 2026: Kumano Kodo (3 sacred routes). We're Japan-first, but expanding globally with the same level of detail.
How accurate is the GPS?

Our trails are mapped at 30cm precision using high-accuracy RTK GPS and verified by field testing. We snap your blue dot to the trail to keep you oriented, and all 1,085 POIs are indexed on a 30cm grid. This is 10x more accurate than standard consumer apps.
